A university in the state of Tennessee has a very unique way of teaching their music students. The students sit for two hours and listen to their professor play scales on the piano. They just sit and listen and that is their class. However, this class takes place in the morning for a special reason. Did you know that songs that you listen to in the morning stays in your head for the rest of the day? Let’s say the first song you hear in the morning is a Black Eyed Peas song. Then most likely, that song will play over and over all day long. The point of having this class in the morning is to memorize and become familiar with the scales. Think about it – you have to listen to notes being played on the piano for two hours every morning – it’s almost impossible to not memorize the scales.
If you study music, it would be a good idea to listen to songs early in the morning. It will help because the graduates, by the time they graduate, have all the scales memorized, perfectly. They didn’t even do anything, though. All they had to do was sit and listen. Easy as that.
